Born in the autumn of 1979, Jeremiah Lee Schwennen is the eldest of three sons born to the only dairy goat farmers in Jesup, Iowa. Always passionate about games, books, comics, cartoons, and toys, Jeremy left Jesup to pursue higher education at Iowa State University where he graduated in 2004 with a BS in English. Since then he’s been teaching English and Reading in Des Moines, getting married to an amazing guy, and (in general) making trouble and refusing to grow up.

Starting in August of 2012, Jeremy has expanded the reach of his devious plan to spread nerdisms and geekeries far and wide by playing several supporting roles in the central office at Des Moines Public Schools. It’s a big job and he might not be that good at it, but he’s going to do his best! He’s also the proud owner of a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, but don’t worry–he’s not likely to be your child’s principal anytime soon.

Jeremy spends a great deal of time on the internet, and has done so ever since discovering its allure in 1997. You may have seen him squirming about under the handle “penagain” in various places. He’s also the founder (and one of only two full-time members) of a creative works think-tank called Nightcandle Imaginations. If you’ve heard of them, that means you already knew everything on this page… sorry for wasting your time!

Jeremy is the author of several novel series that you can explore at Spiralchain.net, the creator of the role-playing game Dark Places (now available from Vagrant Workshop), a contributing author to the games Equinox and Earthdawn: Age of Legend (both also from Vagrant Workshop), and a contributor to supplements in Earthdawn, Third Edition.

Life has been pretty good to Jeremy lately. He has good friends, great family, a terrific house and has been blessed with so many great opportunities to be creative. If he starts complaining about his life, slap him a few times and tell him he’s being silly.
